The Lagoon Villas at South Bank, Turks and Caicos feature raised indoor and outdoor living spaces on the edge of a turquoise water inlet that provides long waterfront vistas and direct beach access. Inspired by the beachfront homes of Malibu where outdoor decks connect directly on to the beach, our Lagoon Villas are designed as contemporary family homes both in aesthetics and in layout to capture the essence of casual beach living.

Externally, the ground floor is seen as a plinth, emerging from the white limestone landscape and robust against the climate. Perched on this base, two timber clad volumes contain the primary bedroom suites, separated in elevation to give them a reduced mass, whilst facilitating a ‘butterfly roof’, falling towards the centre line of the plan, which gives the collection of buildings an undulating form in harmony with the surrounding landscape. To the rear, we have harnessed the potential for private space in the lee of the wind to create a contained outdoor living space, with lawn and terraces to create a secluded and secure courtyard garden.
