South Bank - Lagoon VillasButterfly-roof volumes on the water

As part of our work on the 32-acre South Bank development, which includes 19 Ocean Villas, 38 Boathouses, and 12 condominiums, the Lagoon Villas are conceived as 19 private residences inspired by the beachfront homes of Malibu. Located along the edge of a turquoise-water inlet, the contemporary family homes capture the essence of casual beachfront living in both aesthetic and in layout. 

Each villa has raised indoor and outdoor living spaces, with sweeping waterfront vistas. At the exterior, the ground floor reads as a robust plinth emerging from white limestone. Two timber-clad volumes, each containing a bedroom suite, perch on this base. The volumes are separated in elevation to both break down the massing and allow for a butterfly roof. From a distance, the repeating roof form appears as a collection of volumes undulating in harmony with the landscape.
