This new family estate is situated in the Piedmont region of Delaware, characterised by gently rolling hills and stream valleys. The site for the project is a subtly sloping park-like landscape, dotted with mature trees and bound by meadows. It features a small stream called a raceway and an 19th century timber-framed barn sat on stone walls.

Our clients' brief was for 3 homes; one for the parents and one for each of their daughters' families. The barn was specified to be used as a gathering and entertaining space for the family, with a shared pool. Their brief also included a ‘tower’ for dining and viewing the landscape, and a site plan that included 'moments of pause' to appreciate the bucolic setting.
