Located on a long stretch of rugged ironshore coastline, the Shoal Villas at South Bank, Turks and Caicos are clad in local white coral stone.

The topography and geology of the site are influences to the design concept. The homes are considered as if they have always been there: as if borne from the specific geography and geology of the site - sculpted by the direction of onshore breezes.

These designs are a highly structured response to the rugged ironshore and oceanographic landscape, that whilst providing expansive views also create repose from the onshore winds.

Nothing appears forced. The collection of angled-pitch forms are organic, natural and flow to create a unified whole. The external building mass is composed as a group of 'pavilions' so that the house appears less bulky against the landscape.

The various rooms cluster and pinwheel around a central courtyard, which is laid out as an outdoor 'room' itself. The undulating form creates pockets of outdoor space that are protected from the wind and sun. www.livesouthbank.com
